Google Algorithm Update: Mobile Search

By Joli Skow | April 2015

Big news in the web marketing world! Google has announced that it will update its search algorithm on April 21, 2015, and this time, it's a mobile search update.

Making sure your website is mobile friendly is now more important than ever. As of April 21st, Google will take the mobile-friendliness of your website into account when delivering results to users on mobile devices. So, if your site's not mobile-friendly, it may be much further down in mobile search results.

According to Search Engine Land,

"Google said this algorithmic change will have a “significant impact” in the mobile search results, impacting all languages worldwide."

How do you know if your site is mobile friendly according to Google? First, you can run your website through the Mobile-Friendly Test tool on our website. This tool will at least give you an idea of where you stand. Keep in mind that, even if this tool proclaims your site to be mobile friendly, it's important to think about how your site delivers content on mobile.

You can also use the Mobile Usability report to go more in-depth on the mobile-friendliness of your website (you must be logged into Webmaster Tools for this one).
