Choosing A Digital Marketing Agency: My First Week at ArcStone

choosing a digital marketing agency

The main question I had before entering my first job out of college was, did I choose the right digital marketing agency and how can I make a difference through digital marketing? I'll start by describing my week of firsts: First time living in a city, first apartment, first job out of college.

Maybe these experiences feel like distant memories to you, but I'll ask you to put yourself back in these shoes where the next steps are unpredictable, the nerves are high, and the pressure is on. Hundreds of questions flood your thoughts such as who will you be in the real world, what will you do, and why you will do it every day. How will you make an impact through your work?

However, as I entered ArcStone that first Monday, numerous aspects revealed to me that I chose the right marketing company. I learned that I will be contributing to a company that makes an amazing impact on people.

My initial impressions aligned with what I read on ArcStone's website months ago, with their focus being "Service, Evolution, Craftsmanship, and Happiness." I saw their emphasis on these first three in my very first client meeting. I went along with coworker, Jenna, to meet with a nonprofit organization. These clients demonstrated to me how fully our website redesign capabilities can impact a business and mend their struggles. The clients described how they cannot keep up with their website that provides free services to thousands of people in need across Minnesota. If we could redesign their system, they could more effectively do their volunteer work.

As Jenna described what our company is able to do, I left the meeting more aware of how our services cater to the lives of real people with real needs for evolution. As I observed the employees through the week, I recognized their attention to fine craftsmanship and felt empowered to know I could be a part of this.

As for the last part of the motto, happiness, I found it in the way people treat one another and go about their day. It accumulates into the light-hearted atmosphere that fills up the place. This is echoed in the nuances found throughout the office that underline the attention to aesthetic and detail here...

  1. The space: ArcStone has figured out how to layout a website AND an office. As you walk through the door, you are surrounded by a two-story open area with large windows and two garage doors opening out to the greenery surrounding the Midtown Greenway bike path. There are large wood columns extending up two stories and an exposed-beam ceiling, office rooms with no doors, and comfy, modern furniture that creates the vibe of a living room more so than an office.
  2. The kitchen: This feature was not something I thought could make or break an office, but when your company provides a Jura Impressa, fresh fruit and a cabinent of delicious snacks, it definitely changes things. To me it demonstrated that the company cares about their employees - enough to provide a never-ending supply of Dove Chocolates in the fridge.
  3. The dog: ROBERTO. When your bosses not only bring in their calm, kind attitudes into the space each morning, but also a snuggly, cheerful dog, you know you've picked the right place.
From my first week here, my fears of all the firsts have been alleviated. I know that I am, at the very least, where I should be, and my questions are being answered.
