Facebook Update: Pages For Mobile = Better For Business

By Youa | September 2015

Mobile devices are more important than ever. People need and want information at their fingertips, and are often away from their desks. With necessity being the mother of invention, more and more companies have made their sites mobile friendly, and this week, Facebook has upgraded their Pages app.

With over one billion people visiting Facebook Pages every month, more and more people are turning to Pages to find information about businesses. Facebook has recently updated their Pages feature to help businesses build mobile presence and communicate with customers more easily. Read more here

A few weeks ago, the company updated messaging for Pages to help people and businesses connect faster and more conveniently. Now they've added new features to Pages to make it easier to highlight important information and help businesses reach their goals. These updates help to reflect how important clients are and include new and more prominent call-to-action buttons, a new section for pages, and an improved page layout.

Call-to-action

Call-to-action buttons bring a business’ most important objective to the forefront of its Page. This "action" can be to encourage people to book an appointment or browse an online shop. The buttons on mobile will be more prominent, making it easier for businesses to use their page to accomplish their goals.

To add to this, the new look of the call-to-action button on mobile is bigger, brighter, and directly under the page's cover photo. The new call-to-action button on mobile allow clients to select “Call Now,” “Send Message,” and “Contact Us,” making it easier for people and businesses to connect directly. Over time, we’ll add additional CTA's to further help businesses drive their unique goals.

New sections for Pages

Until now, Pages have been very much the same for every business. Now, different types of businesses can prominently feature the information that is most relevant to their organization. The new "Shop" section helps retail businesses bring their products to the forefront of their page, while the new "Services" section enables professional services businesses to showcase a list of their offerings at the top of their page. Companies can add their services menu to their page or highlight the line of products they sell, helping people get to know their business faster.

Improved layout

Each Page's section has a corresponding tab, just like how videos and photos have their own tabs. When this new layout launches in the coming weeks, visitors will be able to click on the tab associated with a section to see more details. The "Home" tab, which is the landing tab on Pages, will also contain highlights of each section, so relevant information is front and center when someone first gets to a page.
