Heard about Twitter's redesign?
The micro-blogging network now gives greater focus to your photos and tweet interactions.
The most noticeable change is the larger cover photo that spans the width of the entire profile page.
The recommended header photo size is now 1500 x 500 pixels, (it was 1252x626 before) so you will want to resize your picture so it doesn't looked stretched. The profile pic has been moved to the left, with your bio below it. You will still be able to change the background color or image.
Twitter has also revamped how we engage with tweets with these new features:
- Best tweets: When your tweets receive more likes, favorites or comments, they appear in a slightly larger font size, making your best tweets easier to find.
- Pinned tweets: Select one of your tweets and pin it to the top of your stream.
- Filtered tweets: When you view other profiles, filter tweet streams by tweets, tweets with photos/videos or tweets with replies
When will you see the changes?
These changes have been rolled out to a small number of Twitter users. Check out these profiles to see them:
According to the official Twitter blog, the changes will be implemented over the next couple of weeks.
How do these changes impact your social media strategy?
Once the latest updates have gone live for your twitter feed, you will definitely want to look at your company's public profile and make any necessary design updates. Also, the ability for you to 'pin' a tweet to the top of your profile is a unique opportunity for businesses. The tweet you choose should be one of your most popular or contain a special offer to capture leads. Lastly, the latest twitter update is also a good reminder to revisit your overall social media strategy and make modifications as needed.
